Statement

My subjects are the ordinary things we consume. You can find them in your pantry, fridge and supermarket down the road. They are common and familiar. I present a single subject as the focus and by working in monochrome I challenge the viewer to look at something normally just consumed in an almost anatomical, structural way. Primarily this alternative perspective gives the food an embodiment.

I want to convey ordinariness by focusing on the specific shapes and textures. In our busy lives we don’t often take the time to stop and consider the significance of food.
